Reelworld Film Festival 12th year

The Integrity Films crew... me and Collette with Reelworld Film Festival Founder Tonya Lee Williams.   This is the 12th year and I have been there for all 12 and this is the first time I stopped to take a photo with Tonya... Usually I am the one taking photos of everyone else..   I know I look really pale (doesn't help that I have no makeup on) but they look good.

I really enjoyed the Opening Night Film - LUV an acronym for Learning Uncle Vincent,  It was starring Rap artist Common who you would never know came from the music world and not years of acting experience.  He delivered an amazing performance with a lot of depth and intensity.  I don't know the name of the child actor that plays his nephew but this kid will be a huge star in the near future.  It was really impressive how strong his performance was.  It was a story of a boy that was being looked after by his uncle who was recently out of jail.  He is trying to get a business deal together to change his life but he gets mixed up in the sources of trouble that got him into jail in the first place.   It was based on some relationships the director had as a child but fictionalized.  The performances by some of these great actors is worth seeing this film.

On the second day of the festival I attended the screening for the film Hopelessly in June about a guy who can't seem to find the right girl until he reluctantly is pushed to talked to a girl in a bar who ends up becoming his dream girl but things get a little crazy when their parents meet and it's not because the parents don't get along.  You will have to see the movie to find out why.  With David Keith and even Ed Asner makes an appearance in the film.  It's has a lot of laugh out loud moments in the film.  Similar to a Tyler Perry type of film.  It won't get an academy award nomination but it does have a few hilarious moments in it.
The Reelworld Film Festival runs until Sunday the 15th.

New Website in Progress

I am finally getting a bit of help to work on a new Integrity Films Website so that I can keep things up to date more often.   Now that there are 2 Documentaries in the works and a couple of other short films in development I want to be able to constantly update all of the new projects on the site and it was difficult to make changes on the previous website so I hope to launch a revised site within the next month.

I will post the relaunch once it goes live.

In the meantime any upcoming important information will be posted here.

Eco Losers Doc with Julie Daniluk at the Big Carrot

Eco Losers meet nutritionist Julie Daniluk

My new Doc project ECO LOSERS is in full swing with some great interviews in the works. This past week I had the pleasure of filming Super Nutritionist Julie Daniluk at the Big Carrot Organic Grocery Store on the Danforth in Toronto today for a new Documentary called Eco Losers. It's about an Oakville family trying to lose weight and reduce their waste production to lower their Eco footprints. I am directing and filming the documentary and kind of acting like a food consultant along the way.

Heather and Paul are finding it challenging to choose the best food products that will give them the nutrition they need as well as not putting an eco burden on the Environment. Julie assisted them in choosing some great food products that will boost their ability to lose weight without boosting their Eco footprint. I think Heather and Paul learned more today about food than they have in a very long time.

As we are only in the second month of filming I hope that Julie's great advice will carry them forward to making better choices that will affect their weight loss goals over the course of our year of filming. I even learned a few things today.

Julie has just released her new Book called Meals that Heal Inflammation available at the Big Carrot, Indigo, Amazon and other booksellers, and it has great tips, information and recipes that Heather will now be able to use to guide her way through eating healthier foods.

New Study: Municipal Funding / Featured / Toronto Arts Council / Sites / eZ Publish - Toronto Arts Council

New Study: Municipal Funding / Featured / Toronto Arts Council / Sites / eZ Publish - Toronto Arts Council

With our new anti Culture Mayor running our great City of Toronto I don't see much hope for the future of artistic endeavours in this city.

Do we give up, move or just go broke in the pursuit of creativity?

I will probably end up doing the latter.

It's sad how disrespected the arts are in this city when it's obviously an attraction to the City.

Do what you can to change this outcome.

I like Art and want to live in a City of Art.

EcoLosers - New Doc Project

I began a new Documentary Project yesterday called EcoLosers

The Film is about a family that lives in Oakville with their 2 year old son an a dog and have made the decision to lead healthier and greener lives. The began a year long journey starting the beginning of January to reduce 2 things in their life. They want to reduce their weight while also reducing their carbon footprint on the world.

Yesterday we began filming although they began their journey by making small changes since the beginning of the month.

Heather the wife began by cooking a meal for her family. After the meal i gave her the tip of taking the leftover bones from the chicken she cooked and some already prepared vegetables and turning it into a chicken stock to be used for future meals. Heather would have just tossed the bones into a compostable recycle bin. But this way she got 2 meals or more done with one chicken thus reducing packaging and waste.

After dinner she began the process of reassessing her pantry and realized how much garbage she was putting in her body and in her pantry.

This the container she filled up of things that will now get composted, recycled or just thrown in the trash.

Their goal is to live a leaner and greener life at the end of a year and will take on monthly challenges to build on their progress.

You can follow along with Heather's Blog at http://www.ecolosers.net

I have years of useless food knowledge stored in my head and tips I learned from my tv watching downtime that I will use to help this family achieve their ultimate goal and will document the changes.
